Him: You know, Mom, sometimes a chef makes things that other people don't really like. Not because it's not tasty, but just because it's not their favorite.
Me: (eyebrows raised and with a warning tone) Oh really?
Him: Yep. A chef sometimes makes things that are a little too spi--uh, uh--with too much flavor.
Me: (eyebrows still high, but slightly impressed by the word dodge) Okay?
Him: Yeah, so a good chef usually will make all different kinds of foods and let the people decide what they want to eat. Even if a person doesn't like something spi--uh, uh--a food that is not his favorite, he still can pick something that he likes and the chef will get it for him. And if other people like that thing that the other person doesn't like, they can still eat it. And then everybody can eat their favorite thing and nobody will say spicy--uh, uh--I mean--with too much spices.
