That was then.
These days, we find ourselves consuming art of a different kind. . . Our museums these days are of the children's sort. Instead of noting architecture on strolls around downtown, we typically note the location of the nearest public restroom. And, with 3 boys, we don't go anywhere within a football field of blown glass exhibits. Oh, we still have a heart for art, just. . .well. Different art.
This Saturday afternoon, we were treated to a most interesting new collection which I've named: Inch by inch: An image study on paper scraps. Artist: #2. We really are so happy to have the very artist currently in residence at our home. So, I thought, if can not visit a gallery, I shall make one of my blog. Grab a glass of a lovely wine and enjoy this gallery debut:
First, we have a dab of realism. It's Spongebob. Obviously.
Next, we have a brilliant line drawing in No. 2 pencil of a robot. . .or, was it a panda?
Next, there is a more abstract piece titled, "Dad climbing a mountain with a flag."
Next, some wildlife. A monkey. Simple. Understated. Happy.
And finally. . . The pièce de résistance. . . "The monkey's booger."

The last piece really brings the realness. What art collection would be complete without a little nod to God's design and how boys grasp His sense of humor!
Ha! God does have sense of humor, doesn't He?! And upon further reflection, I think that, among all the other pieces, that last one would probably qualify for a National Endowment grant. . .c'est Art!
