Happy Baptism Day, My Son!

Today is the day No. 2 celebrates the anniversary of the day of his Baptism, 5 years ago! For these 5 years, we have been blessed as stewards for the immortal soul of this sweet child. It has been our joy to introduce him to the Lord. And for these 5 years, we have been abundantly rewarded with daily glimpses of grace in the life of our No. 2.

In today's Gospel reading we heard the Word of God proclaimed in the parable of the man who finds hidden treasure in a field and “out of joy goes and sells all he has and buys that field.” And as my 5 year old's mind is never far from the thought of seeking treasure. . . It is my prayer, especially today, that this child--always sensitive and searching--finds the truth and the beauty only our Lord can offer! Son, may you cultivate the courage to sell it all and spend your eternity joyful in the discovery of the greatest treasure!

I love you, my son.
